ADD – Attention Deficit Disorder

Personality Testing – Often helpful to know ones learning style, decision making style, mode of conflict resolution and way of relating to others

Psychological Testing – Various test instruments can be used to help a person know their psychological assets and liabilities. Differs from personality testing in that it tends to focus on dysfunction in a person’s way of living life.

Career Testing – Using the Campbell Interest Inventory the counselor helps a person clearly define areas of interest they already have. Then it is possible to take an “Aptitude Test” to help determine the mental ability a person has for various careers. Sometimes career testing can also include other psychometric tools as well including personality tests such as the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

EAP – Employee Assistance Program: Usually short term and problem focused, EAP counseling is provided by some employers as a means to help their employees. This reduces absenteeism and provides for optimal functioning of an employee who is going through a personal stressful time.

SAC – Student Assistance Counselor: A counselor is assigned to a college, high school, middle or elementary school to assist students having difficulty with learning due to emotional struggles they are having.

Psychotherapist - In brief, a psychotherapist is a counselor or support person who helps people with their emotional/social/mental processes. These processes often overlap into the spiritual realm. Usually, a psychotherapist has a Masters level degree either in social work or psychology and is generally licensed or certified by their state licensing board. Psychotherapists are NOT psychics or pastors.
